We need a Chief Design Engineer to take on a leadership role providing guidance and oversight on all matters relating to design, ensuring adherence to customer, airworthiness & regulatory requirements. The Chief Design Engineer will act as the Senior Person for design project certification and testing as per CASA and FAA regulations. The Chief Design Engineer will be listed on the CASA Instrument of Appointment (IoA) for approval of type design changes. The ability to oversee the multidisciplinary aspects of aircraft projects is a key skill for the successful fulfilment of this role.
The Chief Design Engineer will mentor the engineering function to ensure technical competence and professional standards are maintained. Excellent project management
skills are a must, along with the ability to communicate across all levels. The Chief Design Engineer reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer.
You will need
Previously held an IoA from CASA (or equivalent) for approval of aircraft design changes. Comprehensive understanding of CASA, FAA, EASA and other authorities regulations
Degree in Engineering (Aerospace, Mechanical or Electrical) or equivalent with a minimum 10+ year’s experience
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong project management experience
About the Company
GippsAero provides a unique ‘Airvan’ Product globally to a diverse market of both commercial and private consumers. The site based in Morwell (Victoria, Australia) is
predominantly comprised of field/operational manufacturing and engineering staff as well as the GippsAero corporate headquarters.
This location will serve as a base to this role, however, the incumbent may be required to travel domestically or internationally at the request of Executive Management to fulfil their function. On a daily basis, this function will provide a leadership role to improve the existing processes and services, as well as development of GA products.
